How is a CDP survey implemented ?
3. Benchmarking
CDP allows for a series of benchmarking.
It therefore requires
a description of the reasons for doing the CDP project.
This facilitates the
clear identification of the groups to analyse, the number of groups,
the number of persons involved.
The CDP survey may be
implemented in groups that are known to perform well to determine the
strengths that explain such positive behaviour;
On the other hand it
may be carried out for groups where poor motivation is recognised in
order to improve their business performance.
Other benchmarking is
possible as well: A vertical structure approach : analyses of the
different departments (purchase, production, sales, marketing,
R&D,…)
A horizontal structure
approach : analyses of the different levels of the organisation
hierarchy (board of directors, senior managers, junior managers,
employees, workers)
Several other types of
benchmarking may be envisaged : comparison of the motivation level
between bank agencies, subsidiaries, manufacturing plants, shop retail
outlets,…
Comparing the CDP
survey results with each group’s financial results may draw
interesting lessons.
